Easy, Effective, Powerful Natural Healing for Migraines

Migraines…

Migraines deliver symptoms ranging from aching in the temples to vomiting, nausea, chills, sensitivity to light and sound. They can render the sufferer nearly disabled, curled up in ball, in a darkened, silent room.

What about you? Have you had a migraine? Are they part of your life?

I’ve never had one and hope to keep it that way. But I know many suffer and they do so regularly! So today, I decided to give a bit of attention to this painful condition.

You all know, that I am a natural defence, prevention guy. I believe in looking first to nature for the solutions, believing that as God’s creations, our wellness is found also in God’s natural provision. Migraines included.

Yes, I know when the pain is intense the only thing you can think about is relief and NOW! I’m with you. I’ve been there too many times to mention myself during the years with cancer. And it is a gift that we have to be able to take pain relievers when it is necessary. But they are not our line of defence and are not intended to be a lifestyle. Given that, I suggest thinking about migraine treatment in terms of a lifestyle where they are reduced if not eliminated altogether before they attack.

How?

Nutritionally there are several considerations. Alcohol, beer, wine, caffeine, chocolate, sugar, sulphites, nitrates, MSG and pizza are common triggers. Frankly, excepting the occasional bit of chocolate, none of those items really contribute to a healthy lifestyle, migraine or not. But there are two more common triggers that I want to bring your attention: gluten and dairy. These triggers are often overlooked because we have embraced them as acceptable, even required elements of modern nutrition. But we are not modern inventions and our provision is not either and so the refined, modern versions are not well tolerated by most, whether it is obviously known or not.

Recently, in the Inner Circle of Simply Good Health, a client noted that she had not experienced migraines since she had begun; a month now. No pain killers, no suffering! Why? It was easy to trace it back to her previous consumption of refined flour products (even whole wheat bread is refined by the way) and modern, non cultured dairy. These are congestive foods the body struggles to digest, assimilate and eliminate and they therefore wreak havoc on your body. Most often this havoc goes unseen as I mentioned but trust me, it is there, lying just under the surface and in time, it will reveal itself. One way it does is migraines as she has discovered! So as a first defence for migraine sufferers, significantly reducing if not eliminating all these food and chemical triggers results in favourable odds that these migraines will reduce if not altogether vanish.

Additional measures can be taken with supplements.

  • Green tea
  • Feverfew and Ginko Biloba
  • Magnesium
  • Evening Primrose Oil

These are just a few of the readily available supplements that again, as a lifestyle, will greatly reduce the chances of a migraine attack.

And then there are general lifestyle choices to consider such as:

  • Stress management
  • Massage Therapy
  • Chiropractic Treatment
  • Deep Breathing
  • Exercise
  • Relaxation…ME TIME
  • Laughter

The bottom line is this. Migraines do not have to render you lifeless in bed. They don’t have to haunt you and rob you of authentic, quality life. Take defensive steps today by developing a lifestyle of wellness using these suggestions. I am certain, if you do, you will at the very least, discover much relief and I’ll repeat, the odds are highly favourable that you will even experience the end of your migraine nightmares!

God has created us for health and wellness. He gave us every provision for it. When we apply it, miracles happen. Remember, I am a billboard for natural healing. It works!

Carl, I used to suffer from migraines for years. I found that by changing some of the foods I ate and reducing stress, which really was the main trigger, I was able to make them disappear!  You article has many valuable tips! Thank you! I’ve bookmarked it!

I suffered from debilitating migraines for years. From onset to complete recovery they lasted 3 days twice a month. Once I figured out it was hormonal no thanks to my doctors, I was able to eliminate them using supplements. However, in the last couple years they were returning, not anywhere near as intense, but they were there. With more research I found by eliminating oxidative stress from my system the migraines and more are gone for good. Great article and good tips for stopping these killers in their tracks.

Enjoyed your post as usual Carl! I don’t get migraines, but the information is helpful just the same. People sometimes ask me what to do for migraines because I’m into natural healing. Most of what I know however, is what I or a member of my family have struggled with. One thing I have never found a natural cure for (that works) is sinusitis, chronic I mean. Because it keeps me from sleeping, I gave in and use sinus sprays at night only when needed. Now I read recently that they put mercury (thimerosol) in sinus sprays, eye drops and other common OTC items. So I’m on the prowl for help in this area. I’ve tried sinus wash (neti pot), diet changes (eliminating grain and dairy), hot compresses, and cayenne. Everything helps for less than an hour. Please alert me if you blog about sinus issues! I’ll be all ears…er nose.)

Christiane..try Cayenne lemon tea…1/4-1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper in a coffee cup of hot water…some lemon and raw honey. Drink before bed. It helps the stufyness by promoting drianage. And yes, we need to blog on this soon! Made a note! Thatnk you and let me know if that helps at all!

Great post Carl!  I do suffer from migraines, but as I’ve lost weight and exercised more along with eating better, I do have fewer.  Usually stress or too much screen time on the computer will trigger them.  I will keep some of the suggestions you mentioned in mind :)
